Material: carbon

It is a product that was developed to run more with W800.
In recent years, classic bikes and adventure bikes have become popular, but W800 is undoubtedly the king of classic bikes in the Japanese market.
The design reminiscent of the 650-W1 and 650RS-W3 bikes of yesteryear was carried over from W650 to W800 when it was introduced in 1999.

However, with the increase in displacement from W650 to W800, the engine heat increased, and KAWASAKI took every possible measure to reduce the engine heat, including the bevel gears, but the engine and bevel gears were still hotter than the previous generation W650.

World Walk has development staff who really like to ride motorcycles, and one of them has a W800.

He is a man who has participated in adventure touring, SSTR, which crosses the Japanese archipelago from the Pacific Ocean to the Sea of Japan, and has ridden 300km or 400km in a day without hesitation.

When he came back from a touring trip one hot summer day, he had a burn on the inside of his right knee.
I had a burn from the heat of the bevel gear.
World Walk tried to develop a bevel gear cover that won’t cause low temperature burns.
This product was created to help you ride more with W800.

First, check the structure of the W800 bevel gear cover
W800’s bevel gear cover is fitted so that the foot does not directly contact the head of the bevel gear.

However, this is also a decorative cover, and when removed, the gears are not exposed, and there is no problem in terms of driving performance even if removed.

The material used is aluminum, which has a high thermal conductivity, and when cruising at speeds above a certain level, the wind can reduce the temperature rise, but after stopping or in situations where there is a lot of stop-and-go traffic, it is so hot that if your feet come into contact with it, you will be burned.

Because the heat of the bevel gear is prevented from being transmitted to the cover by the insulating material on the back side, the speed of heat transmission is somewhat reduced, but because of the amount of heat generated by the bevel gear and the good thermal conductivity of aluminum, the temperature quickly becomes so high that it cannot be touched.

First of all, try to see if the temperature can be lowered by changing the shape!
I’m guessing that the cover is causing heat to build up in the bevel gear.
This is a modified version of the stock bevel gear cover used on W650 and W400 to allow the wind to pass from the front to the rear when riding.
The hole in the bottom part is to reduce the weight and to allow water to drain out when it rains.

When having tried to ride with this condition, the timing of getting hot was slower than stock, but it was still hot enough to burn the rider when having stopped the bike.
However, the timing of getting hot is slower than the stock one, so World Walk tried to improve it by changing the material.

Wet carbon, not metal, is used as the material
Since metals such as titanium, steel and stainless steel inevitably get hot, World Walk gave up on metals and adopted wet carbon, which is often used for exterior and accessories.

The surface is laminated with a clear gel for gloss, a carbon sheet with a beautiful twill weave pattern, a thin glass mat underneath, a cloth, and then hardened with resin.
Basically, the heat resistance is lower than that of metal because of the mixture of resin, but the heat is not transmitted easily and there is no risk of burns even when idling or riding slowly.

Please refer to the test results conducted by World Walk (measured after five minutes of riding)
[W800 stock bevel gear cover]
Temperature: 28 degrees – 30 degrees clear sky
Rding conditions: 150km, 60% highway, 40% down the road
Oil Sound Reference: 90 degrees
Measurement temperature: 65 degrees

[Carbon bevel gear cover for W800]
Temperature: 25 degrees – 26 degrees, clear skies
Rding conditions: 70% highway, 30% slow on the way down
Oil Sound Reference: 100 degrees
Measurement temperature: 48 degrees

You can knee-grip.
Some W800 riders who don’t grip their knees can be seen because the bevel gear bars get too hot, and they ride with their crotch open so their knees don’t touch.
The material and shape of the carbon gear cover is carefully selected to ensure that it will not burn even in the most extreme riding conditions, even if you touch it over your clothes.

To the W800 that can run more
World Walk created a completely new bevel gear cover to keep the style of W800 as much as possible.
A W800 that can run better than this.
This product is exactly what it says on the tin.

W800 which will end its history with the current FinalEdition.

At such a time, World Walk dare to release the heat protection parts.
With hope for the revival of the W series.
